Termas Geometricas is a luxury hot spring with a Japanese flair located near Conaripe, Chile. It is made up of seventeen thermal baths nestled in a jungle ravine that is carved through the mountain and connected by striking red, wooden pathways. It is a full day affair worth the splurge in our books!
After hiking up mountains and volcanoes, our legs were in need of some serious R&R. What better way to give them a break than to soak our aching muscles in the thermal baths at Termas Geometricas.
Getting There
Termas Geometricas is about a two hour drive from the town of Pucon, Chile which is where we were based. There are many tour operators that offer transportation to the hot springs and this is a great option if you do not have your own transportation. We had a rental car and decided to do the drive ourselves.
We accessed the hot springs through the town of Conaripe. The one hour and fifteen minute drive to the town of Conaripe is on a paved and smooth road. Once you leave Conaripe, the road is unpaved, winding and can be uneven at times. We had good weather for our journey and the roads were dry so we made it to the hot springs without four-wheel drive. It is about a 45 min drive from Conaripe to the hot springs through farmland and mountain views. It is definitely a long journey but knowing the thermal reward waiting for us at the end of the road made it worth it!
Cost
Full disclosure: Termas Geometrica is not a cheap destination. It is definitely a luxury hot spring, but this was our splurge during our stay in Pucon, and for us, it was worth it. There is no time limit on your stay so you can stay as long as you want. We made a full day out of it to really get our money’s worth.
The cost of entry depends on the time of your arrival. The price ranges from 20,000CLP – 28,000CLP for adults. Kids (aged 3-15 years) are a flat rate of 12,000CLP.
Entry includes towels and a lock for a locker to store your personal belongings. All you need to bring is your swimsuit!
The thermal baths snake their way up through the ravine and seem to be cut right out of the mountain edge. Plant life is abundant in this temperate rainforest and each hot spring pool is surrounded by moss and ferns growing along the rock walls.
Each pool is connected by a raised red-painted, wooden path that has a very Japanese feel to it. The wooden pathway follows a natural cold water stream that flows through the ravine. The sound of flowing water over the rocks is extremely soothing as you stroll from pool to pool.
The pools along the path vary in temperature from warm to very hot. If you follow the path to the very end, you will find a natural waterfall which is the source of the cold water stream. Although you cannot go directly under the waterfall, it feeds a freezing cold pool of water that the brave of heart can plunge into. No thank you!
After all of that soaking and plunging in hot and cold water pools, you might get a little hungry! Luckily, there is a cafe with a wood fired oven that cooks surprisingly great food and offers free lemonade. There is an open fire pit in the middle of the cafe to sit around and enjoy your snacks as well.
We had a fantastic day at Termas Geometrica and are glad we made the journey. There are many hot springs in the area ranging in style from outdoor rustic to thermal heated swimming pool to luxury spa. Termas Geometrica is definitely in the luxury category and you leave feeling like you have been to a spa. So, if this is your cup of tea, then go! We highly recommend it.
